There is an article called "The Future Of Cinema" in the current issue of Harper's Magazine and there is a new article in the Interviews section from Hollywood.Com.

Dreamy Kahimi
Japanese pop angel Kahimi Karie has great taste. The list of collaborators on her second Stateside release reads like a music insider's who's who, including U.K. underground superstar Momus and German pop innovators Stereo Total. She's funny, too [listen to "The Harder They Come"]. In fact, if she didn't have a great sense of humor, her new album K.K.K.K.K. [Le Grand Magistery], would be almost unbearably hip -- the track list includes a song titled "One Thousand 20th Century Chairs" and an ode to filmmaker Harmony Korine.
-- Harper's Bazaar, December 1999 [Carolyn Murphy cover].

Hop over to CDNow.Com to listen to snippets of Karie's songs, including "Harmony Korine."

I added a new section on the homepage: julien donkey - boy, with images from both the set of the film, and vidcaps from the actual film. In the Interviews section, I added The Confession Of julien donkey - boy.

22 December, 1999
I've added new interviews from Independent Film magazine, The Face, articles from The New York Times, Dallas Morning News, and three short articles from The Venice Film Festival in the Interviews section. Also, there are six new photos in the Photo Gallery.

17 October, 1999
I have been sending out most of the updates through the mailing list lately, but I am really going to start updating more often. Really. First of all, there is an interview in the Brit magazine i - D with the model Guinevere van Seenus on the cover, which features a full page interview and two photographs of Harm. Look for the transcript on this site soon. The film directed by illusionist and Harmony's friend David Blaine that was formerly known as both Fight and Cinema Of Cruelty is now called Fight Harm. The highly anticipated julien donkey - boy can be seen as follows:

8 October: The Angelika @ New York City.
15 October: Playing in Los Angeles. Verify location of theatre and time in a newspaper.
22 October: National release where available [most likely in little artsy theatres in big
cities - Chicago, Atlanta, etc.]

julien donkey - boy premiered at The Venice Film Festival. All this week, I will be adding interviews, reviews, articles, and photographs from the set of the film, from the actual film, of Harmony all by himself, and from the film Kids, which he wrote and played a small part in.

Last of all, Harmony was scheduled to appear on David Letterman's late night talk show, and after telling people on the mailing list to tune in, it appeared that he was either not scheduled, or did not make it. Judging from the eight year old guest that was on in his time slot, it could be that Adam Payne [that's what he's called] was a stand-in guest in Harmony's absence.

Just some random information for you this time: At the reading Harmony did for Barnes & Noble in New York, Harmony was dancing around to The Cranberries' "Salvation" and he claimed the violence that erupted during his reading stemmed from his need to get drunk when eclipsed by a sudden fear that he would be murdered in the bookstore. He threw out three index cards, one of which read "I love Chloë only the ephemeral maiden in blue. I love only you," another read: "Abortion is meat," and the third was a piece of cutup text from a book.
Merci buckets to Andy from Manhattan for this information.

30 June, 1999
It is rumored that there will be a sequel to the film Kids and that Harmony is planning to direct it. While I haven't actually read this myself, two people have e-mailed me asking for verification, so it may be in the future.

10 April, 1999
Harmony was invited to friend and illusionist David Blaine's party at Joe's Pub. Good friend Leonardo DiCaprio was not invited, because Blaine didn't want to seem like just another member of the actor's posse ("pussy posse," haha). Korine, Tobey Maguire, and A Tribe Called Quest's Q - Tip, all friends of DiCaprio, were constantly being asked where the actor was. Other attendee's included Donald Trump, Sean "Puffy Daddy" Combs, Tessa Benson, and supermodels Kylie Bax and Jaime Rishar. The bash was sponsored by Mor Vodka.

9 March, 1999
Harmony teamed up with singer Ben Lee, formerly of Noise Addict, to write the song Breathing Tornados [sic]. The record was released through Cema / Capitol, and other luminaries such as producer Ed Buller [Pulp, Spiritualized, Suede], Donovan Leitch, Sean Lennon, and Petra Haden [That Dog] contribute to Lee's latest oeuvre.

13 February, 1999
A Momus contributor wrote in his latest interview with Belinda: "Last Sunday I was in New York and hanging out with Harmony Korine, the film director who just did Gummo and wrote Kids. We were kind of almost doing Mad Libs, trying to write a song together, and sort of doing it like two lines each, so he would do two lines. Not exactly leaving blanks but having to pave in between two or three lines of something someone else has written. It wasn't funny at all. Actually, it was a song about suicide, but it was kind of roughly the same as Mad Libs."

23 January, 1999
The 23-year old musician Ego Plum, who is notorious for winning the hearts of murderers and rapists everywhere wishes to work with Harmony. He says of Korine: "I can't get over how visually stunning that film is [Gummo]. Harmony is a visionary. If anyone out there knows how to get in contact with him, please let me know." Ego Plum's new album, "Anthology Of Infection, Vol. 1" is out now. Visit Ego Plum's website now: Ebolamusic.Com. Join his fanclub for fun. I did.

Bijou Phillips' prank phonecall to Harmony Korine and friend David Blaine is documented in the current issue of Mean magazine with Tony Kaye gracing the cover. The former supermodel and current singer / songwriter / actress also calls director Evan Bernard, musicians Petra Haden [That Dog], and Kool Keith, and producer Greg Wells. The phonecall will be posted in the Interviews section shortly.
