Impressions of a Girl: Poetry Café

She's breathing

Keeper of a thousand keys to a thousand locks
back home, roses bloom at midnight
while she tries each and every one
it's brilliant and beautiful
so she paints the sky a wash of red
because hiding behind her, secretly
is a man without a face

miniature models of hotel rooms line the shelf
who would have known she painted?
untie her shoes and lay her gently
tempting a reply that is best held in a jar
like fireflies and nightingales
scattering inside the glass like a web of delight

Took one, took four
unwanted, who said she needed it?
untie, who wishes her bound?
let the sky be painted with a diamond brush
and make sure some one is there to hold it up.
