Back in those days people washed their clothes by hand. On Mondays we took the clothes to the spring to be washed. The spinghouse was a building that set over a springs. The springhouse is where we kept our milk, butter, cream and so forth. It was stored in a springbox that ran across the end of the springhouse and water ran through this. This kept our milk and so forth cold.
