Cotton picking is the most unforgettable of my childhood memories of growing up on the farm. One I would assume not to remember. Most small farmers grew cotton. That was their income for the fall. My fingers would bleed from being jabbed by the cotton stalks. Picking cotton was a back breaking job that we had to do. And all we got from it was a pair of ill fitting shoes. They would measure our feet with a stick and go to town to buy the shoes. What they came back with we had to wear rather it fit or not.
