On 30 June 2013 Bangladesh police opened fire on indigenous Buddhist people in south Khabongpujya area of Khagrachari district. An indigenous Buddhist woman identified as Chanchala Chakma (50) was seriously injured by the rubber bullets.
Bangladesh army rape and torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar
On 25 October 1984, Bangladesh army of 305th Brigade from Thal Chara Army Camp launched a military operation against the indigenous people of Jaduga Chara in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During the operation, Bangladesh army robbed indigenous properties, extorted money, raped indigenous women and tortured indigenous men. Many villagers had to abandon their village. The victims are:
Mr. Shanti Kumar Chakma (40), Bangladesh army stole 1 goat and 4 fowls. Bangladesh army told him that they would bring more Muslim settlers and they would set up more army camps and they would Islamize the indigenous people.
Mrs. Bandorima Chakma (60). Bangladesh army robbed 5 fowls, and raped her young daughter. An army proposed to marry her daughter.
Mr. Khetra Mohan Chakma (58), Bangladesh army robbed 3 fowls, kicked him to ground when he asked for price.
Mr. Indra Mohan Chakma (51), Bangladesh army seized 10 quintals of paddy which was stocked by the villagers in his house for the Buddhist temple.
Mr. Kali Kinkar Chakma (47), Bangladesh army robbed 2 hens, gold ornaments of his wife and daughter of worth Taka 4,000.00.
Mr. Gulchoga Chakma (33), Bangladesh army told him that Bengali sperms must be infused in the wombs of indigenous Chakma women so that they give birth to children of Bengali origin. Then Bangladesh army raped his wife until she became unconscious.
Mr. Naba Chandra Karbari (86), Bangladesh army robbed 2 fowls and other personal belongings.
Mr. Man Kumar Chakma (49), Bangladesh army stepped on his chest, poured wather through his mouth and nose until he became senseless and kicked his wife until she became unconscious.
Mr. Kalachoga Chakma (30), Bangladesh army forced him to give 30 kilograms of rice and a goat to them for the sake of his life.
Mr. Ram Chandra Chakma (56), Bangladesh army tied him and his wife on the ground with ropes, and beat them with rifle butts until they fell unconscious.
Mr. Raj Mohan Chakma (45), Bangladesh army robbed cash Taka 3,000.00, a goat and 4 fowls and forced him to carry the booty to the army camp.
Mr. Hara Kumar Chakma (34), Bangladesh army injured him with blows so seriously that he fell to the ground, raped his wife beside him and told them that the indigenous women of the Chittagong Hill Tracts were their wives.
