On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people at Baghaichari leaving an indigenous man dead. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous Buddhist man gunned down by the Bangladesh army.
Bangladesh army torture and rob indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar
On 24 November 1984, a group of 140 Bangladesh army soldiers of 305th Brigade from Thalchara Army Camp led by Captain Jilani launched a military operation against the indigenous people Dhalya Chari in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During the operation Bangladesh army tortured and robbed indigenous people. The victims are:
Mr. Radhamon Chakma (57). BD army severely beat him, abused him with filthy language and robbed 41 kilograms of rice, 5 ducks and 6 fowls.
Mr. Joy Mangal Chakma. BD army robbed 4 ducks, 3 fowls and a 3 band radio. They told him that even if they did not find the members of the Shanti Bahini, the indigenous people would be enough for them to shoot. They also told him- "Next time you would not be spared of your life and before it is too late you better leave CHT for ever".
