On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. A Chakma couple pick up the pieces after the house was burnt down by the settlers.
Armed Police Battalion torture an indigenous Chakma Buddhist in Naniachar
On 15 March 1985, Armed Police Battalion (APB) of Bak Chari Camp arrested an indigenous Chakma Buddhist from Firingi Para in Naniachar, Rangamati district. The arrest was in reprisal to armed clash that occured between the Shanti Bahini and tha Bangladesh army on 8 March, 1985. The victim is identified as Prakhar Jyoti Chakma.
APB subjected Prakhar Jyoti Chakma to inhuman torture and beating. APB hung him upside down, poured water through his nose and mouth and subjected him to electric shock. Then he was handed over to the Bangladesh army.
