On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. A Chakma couple pick up the pieces after the house was burnt down by the settlers.

Bangladesh army terrorize indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar

On 16 March 1985, Bangladesh army of 305 Brigade from Thal Chara Camp launched a military operation at Mora Chengi and Shankhola Para in Naniachar, Rangamati district. The operation was in reprisal to the armed clash between the Shanti Bahini and the Bangladesh army occured on 8 March 1985. During the operation Bangladesh army indiscriminately beat and terrorize indigenous Chakma Buddhists. The victims are:

  1. Jatra Mohan Chakma, son of Kala Bujya Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army serverely beat him.
  2. Madan Mohan Chakma, son of Kala Bujya Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army serverely beat him.
  3. Vaidya Wuhan Chakma, son of Dhunya Chakma of Shankhola Para, Naniachar. Bangladesh army serverely beat him.
  4. Shanti Bala Chakma, wife of Sashanka Chakma of Shankhola Para, Naniachar. Bangladesh army serverely beat her and took away a foul from her.
