On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Baghaichari. The settlers destroyed many indigenous houses and Buddhist temples. On 26 April 1985, Bangladesh army arrested Harbua Uda Chakma at Tulaban in Baghaichari, Rangamati district. Bangladesh army falsely accused him of shopping for the Shanti Bahini. He was tied to a tree and beaten.
