On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people at Baghaichari leaving an indigenous man dead. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous Buddhist man gunned down by the Bangladesh army.

On 7 May 1985, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) of 18th BN from Marishya Zone led by a Habildar Major (Sergeant Major) beat and tortured indigenous inhabitants of Balu Khali in Bagahichari, Rangamati district. The victims are:
Wife of Jalai Kumar Chakma (25), of Balu Khali, Baghaichari. BDR falsely accused her of being a helper of Shanti Bahini and beat her with wooden sticks.
Nepali Chakma (14), son of Ranjit Lal Chakma of Balu Khali, Baghaichari. BDR beat him with canes for the same reason as mentioned in above no.
