On the night between 3-4 September 2009 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed Ponemala Tripura (50) wife of Bhibishan Tripura at Sindukchari under Mahalchari. The villagers recovered her dead body from their farm in the morning of 4 September 2009. She had a land dispute with the Muslim settlers.
Bangladesh army rape indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Panchari
On 15 June 1985 at 10:00 p.m. Bangladesh Army of 30th Bengal Regiment from Shankhola Para Camp led by Subedar Nazrul Islam surrounded Shankhola Para in Panchari, Khagrachari district. Bangladesh army carried out house to house search. All the male persons were detained and confined in a separate place, while the women were raped indiscriminately. The victims are:
Chandra Moni Chakma (23), son of Nua Chan Chakma of Shankhola Para, Logang, Panchari. He was rounded up along with two other persons in his home at 10:00 P.M, and they were confined in a separate place while the army personnels gang raped his wife.
Malabi Chakma (41), wife of Nua Chan Chakma of Shankhola Para, Logang, Panchari. Se was raped while her husband was confined in a separate place.
Khorani Chakma (19), wife of Chandra Moni Chakma of Shankhola Para, Logang, Panchari. She was raped while her husband was confined in a separate place.
Padma Sona Chakma (16), daughter of Nua Chan Chakma of Shankhola Para, Logang, Panchari. She was raped by Subedar Nazrul Islam in her house and was left bleeding in senseless condition.
Kinabi Chakma (28), wife of late Sango Chakma of Korolya Chari, Logang, Panchari. She came to visit the family of Chandra Moni Chakma. She was also raped inhumanly and she was left unconscious and in bleeding condition.
