On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked 5 indigenous Buddhist villages in Ramgarh and 2 indigenous villages in Manikchari in Chittagong Hill Tracts. In this attack around 200 indigenous houses including 2 Buddhist temples were torched. At least 20 indigenous people were injured and at least half dozen indigenous people were missing. Muslim settlers damaged and desecrated the Buddha images.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Dighinala

On 6 July 1985, Bangladesh army from Dighinala Cantonment led by Lt. Col. Kabir launched a military operation at Chinal Chara in Dighinala, Khagrachari district. Bangladesh army launched the operation on pretext of searching Shanti Bahini. During the operation Bangladesh army beat and tortured indigenous Buddhist inhabitants. The victims are:

  1. Birajya Chakma (52), son of Arjun Chandra Chakma of Chinal Chara, Dighinala. Bangladesh army falsely accused him of being a helper of Shanti Bahini. Bangladesh army accused him of giving shelter to Shanti Bahini. He was beaten, tortured, subjected to electric shock and had water poured through his nose and mouth.
  2. Rashik Kumar Chakma (32), son of Birajya Chakma of Chinal Chara, Dighinala. He had similar treatment for the same reason mentioned above.
  3. Kalabua Chakma (26), son of Birajya Chakma of Chinal Chara, Dighinala. He had similar treatment as mentioned above.
  4. Sama Chandra Chakma (55), son of Chakra Chakma of Ram Para in Dighinala. Bangladesh army beat and robbed a pair of bullocks from him.
