Jyoti Ranjan Chakma, victim of Muslim settler attack at Jaliapara
On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. At Jaliapara, the Muslim settlers stopped every vehicle and looked for indigenous people. Senior government official Jyoti Ranjan Chakma was taken off a bus and severely beaten up.

Bangladesh polic torture an indigenous Chakma Buddhist in Mohalchari

On 21 July 1985, a group of 34 Bangladesh police personnel of 6th Armed Police Battalion (APB) raided the house of Mantu Chakma (33), son of Adiratan Chakma of Bhuatek in Mohalchari, Khagrachari district. His house was ransacked and all his valuable properties were plundered. He was interrogated and tortured.

On 22 July 1985, Bangladesh Army of 13th Bengal Regiment from Mohalchari Army Camp led by Subedar Abdul Bariq was arrested an indigenous Chakma Buddhist from Mohalchari Bazar in Khagrachari district.

The vicim is Buddha Raj Chakma (45), son of Gyana Sen Chakma of Khularam Para, Mohalchari. Bangladesh army took him to the army camp where he was subjected to inhuman physical torture for one month while he was kept in their custody.
