On 14 December 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Baghaichari and Dighinala following the death of a settler named Mohamed Sattar. An indigenous woman named Chikon Mila Chakma was killed in Dighinala and at least 10 indigenous people were injured. Mr. Ronik Chakma was one of the indigenous victims.
Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Baghaichari
On 25 July 1985, Bangladesh Army ot 7th Bengal Regiment from Durchari Camp led by Subedar Siddiqur Rahman tortured, harrassed and insulted indigenous Chakma Buddhists at Shijak Mukh in Baghaichari, Rangamati district. The victims are:
Bijakka Chakma (53), son of Gotrasingh Chakma. Bangladesh army harrassed him at the shop of Nila Ranjan Chakma.
Diptimoy Chakma (27), son of Dhaneshwar Karbari of Chinta Ram Chara, Baghaichari. He was also insulted and beaten by army personnel.
Dhaneshwar Karbari (53), son of Girish Chandra Karbari of Chinta Ram Chara, Baghaichari. He was insulted, harrassed and ordered to run to and fro from his house to the Army camp hundred times.
