On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Bangladesh Rifles torture 2 indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Matiranga
On 10 August 1985, Bangladesh Rifles from Taindong BDR Camp raided indigenous Buddhist village Bogapara in Matiranga, Khagrachari district. During the raid, BDR arrested and tortured 2 indigenous Chakma Buddhists. The victims are:
Mon Kazi Karbari (70), son of late Robidas Karbari of Bogapara, Matiranga. He was arrested and severely beaten.
Mohan Lal Chakma (32), son of Krata Mohan Chakma of Bogapara, Matiranga. He was arrested, interrogated and subjected to electric shocks.
