On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. A Chakma couple pick up the pieces after the house was burnt down by the settlers.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Dighinala

On 16 August 1985, Bangladesh Army from Dighinala Cantonment led by Capt. Harun-Ur-Rashid and Leut. Enamul Huq raided South Pukurghat in Dighinala, Khagrachari district at night. Bangladesh army took the indigenous Buddhist villagers out of their homes. Bangladesh army beat and tortured them. The victims are:

  1. Ashutosh Chakma (35), son of Mano Ranjan Chakma of South Pukurghat, Dighinala. She was severely beaten.
  2. Beni Madhab Dewan (45), son of Bijoy Dewan of South Pukurghat, Dighinala. He was taken to the camp where he was subjected to inhuman torture.
  3. Kina Mohan Chakma (40), son of Ramani Mohan Chakma of South Pukurghat, Dighinala. He was a victim of inhuman torture.
  4. Rasikya Chakma (45), son of Jonardhon Chakma of South Pukurghat, Dighinala. He was beaten with sticks.
  5. Briha Ranjan Chakma (30), son of Chandra Kishor Chakma of North Pukurghat, Dighinala. He was hung upside down and had water poured through his nose and mouth.
  6. Sneha Kumar Chakma (38), son of Doleiya Chakma of North Pukurghat, Dighinala. He was severely beaten.
  7. Kandara Chakma (32), son of Barchoga Chakma of North Pukurghat, Dighinala. He was also severely beaten.
  8. Gattona Badi Chakma (30), son of Kalya Chakma of North Pukurghat, Dighinala. He was kicked to the ground and beaten till he became senseless.
  9. Chando Chakma (37), of North Pukurghat, Dighinala. He was severely beaten.
  10. Jyoti Bikash Chakma (14), of Narai Chari, Dighinala. He was also mercilessly beaten.
