On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land.
Bangladesh army torture and rape indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Panchari
On 4 September 1985, Bangladesh army of 203rd Brigade posted at Panchari Camp carried out a military operation at Pratul Chandra Karbari Para in Panchari, Khagrachari district. During the operation Bangladesh army committed barbarous atrocities against the indigenous Buddhist people. The victims are:
Narendra Lal Chakma (70), son of late Hridoy Moni Chakma of Pratul Chandra Karbari Para, Panchari.
Batya Chakma (20), son of Narendra Lal Chakma of Pratul Chandra Karbari Para, Panchari.
Pratul Chandra Karbari (68), son of Mahendra Lal Chakma. He was beaten and tortured.
Chandra Moni Chakma (20), son of Thutya Chakma of Pratul Chandra Karbari Para, Panchari.
Rubi Sindhu Chakma (35), son of Sukra Mohan Chakma of Pratul Chandra Karbari Para, Panchari.
Virendra Lal Chakma (25), son of Muzukya Chakma of Pratul Chandra Karbari Para, Panchari.
Khetra Mohan Chakma (50), son of Khularam Chakma of Pratul Chandra Karbari Para, Panchari.
Protima Devi Chakma (22), wife of Virendra Lal Chakma of Pratul Chandra Karbari Para, Panchari. She was raped infront of her husband.
