On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers massacred about 30 indigenous Chakma Buddhists at Mallya. One of them was Bablu Chakma the son of Manek Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded on a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the vessel. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.
Bangladesh army rob indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Khagrachari
On 8 January 1986, Bangladesh army of 203 Brigade from Khagrachari Cantonment launched a military oneration against the indigenous Buddhists at Kamalchari, Tanyama Chara, Shakra Chara , inner Betchari Para and Betchari Thoom Para in Khagrachari. The units stayed at inner Betchari Para and left for Khagrachari on 10th January, 1986. During their stay, the following persons were compelled to give them rice, fowls and goats free of cost
Proti Kumar Chakma (32), son of Joyot Dhar Karbari of inner Betchari Para, Khagrachari. He had to give four fowls and one quintal of rice to the army personnels.
Lalit Mohan Chakma (34), son of Ratnadhar Chakma of inner Betchari Para, Khagrachari. He was forced to give the 2 goats free of cost to the Bangladesh army personnel.
