On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Baghaichari. The settlers destroyed many indigenous houses and Buddhist temples. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. Indigenous Chakma boys in grief after the attack.

On 4 February 1986, Bangladesh Army of of 13 East Bengal Regiment from Dumoni Ghat army camp led by Major Sharifuddin rounded up Sashi Kumar Karbari (62) of Khulyang Para in Mohalchari, Khagrachari district.
Bangladesh army accused him of supporting the cause of self determination for CHT under the leadership of Jana Samhati Samiti. Bangladesh army severely beat Mr. Karbari and poured water through his nostrils and mouth.
