On 14 December 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Baghaichari and Dighinala following the death of a settler named Mohamed Sattar. An indigenous woman named Chikon Mila Chakma was killed in Dighinala and at least 10 indigenous people were injured. Mr. Shanti Priyo Chakma was one of the indigenous victims.
Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar
On March 20, 1986, army units of 26th EBR from Barabunnya Zone and Thalchara camp, rounded up Prakiti Ranjan Chakma, son of Gulchoga Chakma, of Jaduga Chara, P.S. Naniachar, at his residence. He was severely beaten till he fainted by the soldiers for his sympathy for the Jana Samhati Samiti.
The same day, Prabhat Chandra Chakma, 24 yrs, father's name and address as above, was rounded up by the soldiers from his house. He was taken to the Primary School of Jaduga Chara where he was interrogated, beaten and tortured by the soldiers for his support to the cause of self-determination in the CHT.
