On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Naniachar

On May 7, 1986, an army unit of 26th EBR from the army camp at Barpul Para, raided the Chakma village of Bakchari Thoom Adam, P.S. Naniachar, carrying out looting and beating of the innocent people who refrained from casting their votes in response to the JSS's decree to boycott the May 7, 1986, general election of Bangladesh.

The soldiers looted gold ornaments, money, goats, cattle, fowls worth Taka 60,000 (sixty thousand Takas). Names of the affected persons who were also beaten by the soldiers are given below:

  7. Naresh Bikash Chakma, 27 yrs, son of Nilabrata Chakma, address as above.
  8. Bhringa Moni Chakma, 25 yrs, son of Raghunath Chakma, address as above.
