On 3 April 2006, Bangladesh army and Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Mahalchari of Khagrachari. Bangladesh army and Muslim settlers gang raped Ms. Thuimrajai Marma (16) daughter of Mamong Marma at Saprue Karbaripara.

Bangladesh army rape and torture indigenous people in Naniachar

On May 10, 1986, an army contingent led by Capt. Khaleque of 26th EBR from the army camp at Barabunnya, carried out a military operation on the pretext of searching for the Shanti Bahini in the Chakma villages- Harin Ghat Chara and Nava Karbari Para, P.S. Naniachar.

During the operation, many innocent people were subjected to beating, torture and rape. A reign of terror was created on the innocent Chakma inhabitants by the barbarity of the army personnel who have resorted to shooting the innocent people, killing and taking the innocent people to army custody. Names of the victims are given below:

1. Kajola Devi Chakma, 17 yrs, daughter of Kshetra Bihari Chakma, of Harin Ghat Chara, Deno Sabekkhyong, P.S. Naniachar, was inside her house when the soldiers surrounded the house and indiscriminately fired from sub machine guns at the house, and she was hit by a bullet. She was taken to the primary school of Jaduga Chara, P.S. Naniachar. The soldiers did not spare her from barbaric rape, although she was bleeding and suffering from the bullet injury. She was raped consecutively by the soldiers after which they inserted a piece of bamboo in her private parts when she was kept at the school. Due to serious bleeding, barbaric rape and torture she died on the way when she was being taken to Naniachar hospital.
2. Kalpana Mohan Chakma, 17 yrs, son of Rajmohan Chakma, address as above, a student of tenth class, Naniachar High School, was also wounded when the soldiers opened fire at his house. He was forced to confess as being a member of the Shanti Bahini in the wounded condition and then he was flown to Rangamati in an army helicopter for hospitalisation but due to the serious nature of the injury he was flown to Chittagong.
3. Ramana Mohan Chakma, 23 yrs, father's name and address as above, a student of Rangamati College, was arrested, severely beaten and taken to the army camp for further interrogation and torture and being kept under army custody.
4. Paran Chandra Chakma, 24 yrs, son of Man Kumar Chakma, address as above, was arrested, beaten and taken to army custody.
5. Ananda Kumar Chakma, 55 yrs, son of Chikon Chan Chakma, address as above, was severely beaten.
6. Ratan Kumar Chakma, 42 yrs, son of Lodachan Chakma, address as above, was beaten as above.
7. Sashi Kumar Chakma, 35 yrs, son of Lodachan Chakma, of Harin Ghat Chara, Deno Sabekkhyong, P.S. Naniachar, was severely beaten in his house.
8. Nanda Kumar Chakma, 32 yrs, father's name and address as above, was beaten as above.
9. Dhana Mohan Chakma, 20 yrs, son of Ratna Kumar Chakma, address as above, was severely beaten in his house.
10. Managula Chakma, 18 yrs, father's name and address as above, was severely beaten and he fainted twice during interrogation and torture.
11. Rangajoy Chakma, 30 yrs, son of Kalachokya Chakma, address as above, was hung upside down and had water poured in the nose.
12. Ladabi Chakma, 68 yrs, wife of Late Batya Chakma, address as above, was beaten by the soldiers.
13. Rangamila Chakma, 32 yrs, wife of Himadree Chakma, address as above, was raped by the soldiers in her house.
14. Bhattuaram Chakma, 48 yrs, son of Purna Chakma, of Nava Karbari Para, Deno Sabekkhyong, P.S. Naniachar, was physically tortured by the army personnel when he replied that he did not know the Shanti Bahini hide outs.
15. Dhelly Chakma, 15 yrs, daughter of Nanda Dulal Chakma, address as above, was gang raped by the soldiers in her house.
16. Umadevi Chakma, 24 yrs, wife of Togor Kusum Chakma, address as above, was raped in front of her husband who was tied with a rope.
17. Sarojadevi Chakma, 20 yrs, wife of Nayan Ranjan Chakma, address as above, was raped by the soldiers till she bled profusely.
18. Murati Mohan Chakma, 37 yrs, son of Padma Dhar Chakma, address as above, was rounded up in his house and subjected to physical torture.
19. Sashi Ranjan Chakma, 36 yrs, son of Purna Chakma, address as above, was rounded up in his house and severely beaten.
20. Bujjya Chakma, 60 yrs, son of Nava Karbari, address as above, was severely beaten for his sympathy for the Jana Samhati Samiti of CHT.
21. Santuma Chakma, 30 yrs, wife of Aramon Chakma, address as above, was raped by the soldiers in front of her husband.
22. Pancharatan Chakma, 33 yrs, son of Hara Kumar Chakma, address as above, was severely beaten in his house.
23. Chandra Shekhar Chakma, 30 yrs, father's name and address as above, was kicked and severely beaten in his house.
24. Vimal Kanti Chakma, 27 yrs, father's name and address as above, was rounded up in his house and had water poured into the mouth and the nose.
25. Ujjal Kanti Chakma, 22 yrs, father's name and address as above, was rounded up in his house and was physically tortured by the soldiers who intentionally accused him of being a Shanti Bahini.
26. Raj Mohan Chakma, 45 yrs, son of Surya Chandra Chakma, address as above, was beaten in his house by the soldiers.
27. Bhagya Chandra Chakma, 16 yrs, son of Kalikinkar Chakma, of Nava Karbari Para, Deno Sabekkhyong, P.S. Naniachar, was severely beaten in front of his parents.
28. Kinamohan Chakma, 30 yrs, son of Surya Chandra Chakma, address as above, was beaten in his house.
29. Monamohan Chakma, 33 yrs, father's name and address as above. The soldiers entered his house and kicked him to the ground, hit him with a sub machine gun till he became senseless.
30. Kshetra Bihari Chakma, 38 yrs, son of Jatra Mohan Chakma, address as above, was brought out of his house by the soldiers giving him blows and kicks. He was beaten and tortured in the lawn till he fainted.
31. Chandra Mohan Chakma, 47 yrs, son of Harachandra Chakma, address as above, was beaten in his house.
32. Laxmi Sudhan Chakma, 16 yrs, son of Chandra Mohan Chakma, address as above, was beaten along with his father.
33. Kishto Dayal Chakma, 37 yrs, son of Kinacharan Chakma, address as above, was kicked by the soldiers who brought him out of his house and was beaten till he fell unconscious.
34. Ananda Kumar Chakma, 40 yrs, son of Madhu Chandra Chakma, address as above, was severely beaten in his house.
35. Padma Maya Chakma, 15 yrs, daughter of Kishto Dayal Chakma, address as above, was raped by the soldiers in her house till she bled.
36. Juron Chandra Chakma, 25 yrs, son of Kalikinkar Chakma, address as above, was inhumanly tortured by the soldiers who hung him upside down and poured water mixed with chilli into his nose and mouth.
37. Laxmimoni Chakma, 20 yrs, son of Chandra Mohan Chakma, address as above, was beaten together with his father by the soldiers.
38. Narayan Chakma, 35 yrs, son of Dhona Chakma, address as above, was kicked and beaten in his house.
39. Rajani Chakma, 40 yrs, son of Purna Chakma, address as above, was severely beaten in his house.
40. Sonabi Chakma, 23 yrs, wife of Nayan Ranjan Chakma, address as above, was raped by the soldiers in her house.
41. Neeladevi Chakma, 15 yrs, daughter of Tarulal Chakma, of Patachari, P.S. Naniachar, was gang raped by the soldiers in her house.
42. Paranjoy Chakma, 12 yrs, son of Himadree Chakma, of Harin Ghat Chara, P.S. as above, was beaten in front of his parents by the soldiers.
43. Morottua Chakma, 8 yrs, father's name and address as above, was beaten as above.
44. Lipika Chakma, 15 yrs, daughter of Ananda Kumar Chakma, address as above, was raped by the soldiers in her house.
45. Kalanjoy Chakma, 38 yrs, son of Kalachokya Chakma, address as above, was also severely beaten in his house by the soldiers.
