On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

On 25 May 1986, an army unit from the army camp at Bhaibon Chara, surrounded the village Paujjya Chari, P.S. Panchari, in an operation against the Shanti Bahini and carried out house to house searches, subjecting the innocent inhabitants of the village to harassment and beatings.
Two persons were seriously injured due to army beating. The names of the victims are given below:
Chitti Chakma, 26 yrs, son of Haripada Chakma, of Paujjya Chari, P.S. Panchari.

The soldiers of 19th EBR from the army camp at Pradeep Para, during their road patrol intentionally fired machine gun at Kanti Chakma of Suknachari, P.S. Panchari, seriously wounding him.
