On the night between 3-4 September 2009 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed Ponemala Tripura (50) wife of Bhibishan Tripura at Sindukchari under Mahalchari. The villagers recovered her dead body from their farm in the morning of 4 September 2009. She had a land dispute with the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army rape and torture indigenous people in Baghaichari

On 7 June 1986, an army lieutenant with soldiers of 41st EBR from the army camp at Marishya, surrounded the Chakma village of west Lalyaghona, P.S. Baghaichari, at midnight. Innocent inhabitants were taken out of their houses who were then severely beaten and tortured. A indigenous woman was also raped in the incident.

The operation was carried out on the instigation of a Bengali Muslim named Aminul Huq of Battuli, P.S. Baghaichari. Aminul Huq is an army agent and also a racist communal fanatic Muslim, who is actively helping the Bangladesh army in uprooting the indigenous indigenous people from their ancestral homeland. Names of the victims are given below:

1. Dhana Chakma, 14 yrs, son of Nagendra Lal Chakma, of West Lalyaghona, P.S. Baghaichari, was severely beaten in his house.
2. Dhenga Chakma, 17 yrs, father's name and address as above, was beaten as above.
3. Nagendra Lal Chakma, 49 yrs, son of Kumojya Chakma, address as above, was severely beaten with a wooden block in his house.
4. Nokul Chandra Chakma, 37 yrs, son of Late Jamboban Chakma, address as above was a victim of merciless beating.
5. Kironya Chakma, 79 yrs, son of late Debendra Chakma, address as above, was also inhumanly beaten.
6. Pratul Chakma, 47 yrs, son of Kironya Chakma, address as above, was severely beaten till he fainted.
7. Bipuleshwar Chakma, 29 yrs, son of Sudhonya Chakma, address as above, was severely beaten and had water poured in the nose and mouth.
8. Madhumangal Chakma, 49 yrs, son of Punyasen Chakma, address as above, was mercilessly beaten and kicked.
9. Binota Chakma, 24 yrs, daughter of Deva Laksha Chakma, address as above, was gang raped with physical torture.
