Mr. Paritosh Chakma and Mr. Arun Kanti Chakma

On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Bangladesh army torture 2 indigenous men in Baghaichari

On June 12, 1986, two Chakma indigenous people were arrested by Leut. Kabir of 41st EBR from the Marishya Army Camp and armed gang of Bengali Muslims.

The arrested persons were taken to the army camp where they were subjected to inhuman torture. They were released on June 13, 1986, after extorting Taka 10,000 from them. Names of the victims are given here with:

  1. Ajit Kumar Chakma, 18 yrs, son of Chiroshanti Chakma, of Uqalchari, P.S. Baghaichari, was given electric shocks on his genitals. He was tortured several times in the army custody.
  2. Bimalendu Chakma, 26 yrs, son of Rajani Chakma, of Lalyaghona P.S. Baghaichari, was inhumanly tortured with water forced into his nose and mouth. He was kicked on the face and his testicles were squeezed during the interrogation. He fainted three times due to torture during the interrogation.
