On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army rob indigemous Chakma Buddhists in Longudu

From July 10 to 13, 1986, a unit of 26th EBR under the command of Captain Sultan from the army camp at Baranachari, P.S. Longudu, carried out a military operation in the Chakma village of Ukchari, P.S. Longudu, on the pretext of searching the Shanti Bahini.

During the operation, Bangladeshi forces resorted to looting of indigenous properties. Names of the victims whose properties were looted by the Bangladesh army personnel are given below:

  1. Rajendra Chakma of Ukchari, P.S. Longudu. The soldiers looted away 2 goats and 4 fowls from him.
  2. Ananda Mohan Chakma, address as above, was forced to give the attacking soldiers 1 bullock and 3 fowls free of cost, otherwise he would have lost his life.
  3. Pramod Chandra Chakma, address as above. The soldiers looted his house and took away 7 blankets, 1 shawl and a mirror.
  4. Chandra Dhawj Chakma, address as above. He had a ripe row of plantain which he kept for selling in the market. The soldiers at gun point ate up all his bananas and threw banana peels at him.
