On 3 August 2004, Bangladesh army backed Bengali Muslim settlers killed 2 members of an indigenous Buddhist family in Dhandachara village of Bhushanchara in Barkal. At night at around 11 pm the Muslim settlers attacked Mr. Barun Kumar Chakma (33) and his family members with swords and spears. Mr. Barun Kumar Chakma died on the spot and his wife Ms. Subarna Chakma (28) and 11 months old son Kampan Chakma were seriously injured. Next day on 4 August Ms. Subarna died from her injuries. Kampan Chakma got serious injuries at his right leg.
Bangladesh army torture indigemous Chakma Buddhists in Longudu
On 11 July 1986, an army unit of 45 soldiers from 7th EBR from the army camp at Korolyachari, commanded by Captain Khatem Ali, attacked the Chakma village of Deno Atarakchara, P.S. Longudu.
The whole village was encircled by the soldiers who then indiscriminately fired light machine guns and sub machine guns and shelled the village with 60 mm mortars.
The following persons who were arrested from the village, were subjected to inhuman torture and beating. They were taken to the army camp at Korolyachari and being kept under army custody without bail:
