On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar

On 29 0ct. 1986, a group of 36 Bangladesh army personnel of 40 EBR from the army camp at Bogachari led by Major Jamaluddin and Subedar Sultan Ahmed raided the indigenous Buddhist villages Mongkhola (North) and Ram Hori Para in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During the raid Bangladesh army arrested and severely beat many indigenous Chakma Buddhists. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Lolit Kumar Khisa (22), son of Mr. Lakshmi Bilash Khisa of Mongkhola (North), Naniachar.
  2. Mr. Vira Chandra Chakma (45), son of Mr. Taranga Moni Chakma of Ram Hori Para, Naniachar.
  3. Mr. Ramesh Chandra Chakma (50), son of late Hridoy Ranjan Chakma, address as above.
  4. Mr. Bor Choga Chakma (42), son of Mr. Ganga Moni Chakma, address as above.
  5. Mr. Batya Chakma (35), son of Mr. Morottua Chakma, address as above.
  6. Mr. Kripa Dhon Chakma (26), son of Mr. Bongojya Chakma, address as above.
  7. Mr. Karon Chandra Chakma (43), son of Mr. Brajendra Lal Chakma, address as above.
  8. Mr. Shanti Ranjan Chakma (40), son of Mr. Dhonya Chakma, address as above.
