On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed about 30 indigenous Buddhist people at Mallya. 2 of them were Bablu Chakma and Chittipudi Chakma (6 months), son and daughter of Manek Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded at a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the ferry. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.
Bangladesh army murder 2 indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Dighinala
On 3 Nov. 1986, Bangladesh army personnel from Dighinala Cantonment launched military operation against the indigenous Buddhist village Akshay Moni Karbari Para in Dighinala, Khagrachari district. During the opertion, Bangladesh army shot dead 2 indigenous Chakma Buddhists in a farm house (temporary bamboo house built by slash and burn cultivetors) and arrested an indigenous Buddhist man.
After killing 2 indigenous Buddhist men, Bangladesh army took their dead bodies to the Dighinala Hospital and took the arrested man to cantoment for interrogation and torture. The dead bodies were handed over to their relations on 10 Nov. 1986. The victims are:
Mr. Kandara Chakma, son of Mr. Nagar Chan Chakma of Akshoy Moni Karbari Para, Dighinala. He was shot dead.
Mr. Lakshmi Chandra Chakma, son of Mr. Nagar Chan Chakma of Akshay Moni Karbari Para, Dighinala. He was shot dead.
Mr. Sumati Ranjan Cnakma, son of Mr. Mangal Chan Chakma, address as above. He was arrested and taken to the cantonment for torture.
