On August 3 2013, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers wielding sharp knives and machetes began to attack indigenous Buddhist and Hindu people in Taindong of Matiranga, claiming that indigenous miscreants had kidnapped a Muslim settler named Kamal Hossain. At least 50 indigenous people were wounded and 3 were killed. More than 1,500 indigenous men, women and children fled to the India-Bangladesh border. Indigenous Chakma and Tripuri refugees in temporary refugee camps set up by BSF (Border Security Force of India) in Indo-Bangladesh border.
Bangladesh army terrorize indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Rangamati
On 10 Nov. 1986, Bangladesh army of 40 EBR from the army camp at Ghagra led by a Lieutenant carried out a military operation against the indigenous Chakma Buddhists of Lower Kuduk Chari in Rangamati. During the operation Bangladesh army arrested and robbed indigenous people and set fire on their houses. The victims are:
Mr. Punong Chan Chakma (19), son of Mr. Dev Chakma of Lower Kuduk Chari, Rangamati. He was arrested, beaten and taken to Ghagra army camp where he was detained. Bangladesh army robbed clothes and 1 pair of gold ear rings from him.
Mr. Virendra Chakma (38), son of Mr. Phul Kumar Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army personnel robbed 20 pieces of corrugated iron sheets from him.
Mr. Robi Chan Chakma (68), son of late Binay Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army robbed 2 goats, 6 fowls from him.
Mrs. Doya Lata Chakma (30), wife of Mr. Shyamol Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army robbed 1 pair of gold ear rings. Her house was set on fire.
Mr. Dhana Chan Chakma (39), son of Mr. Suresh Chahma, address as above. His house was set on fire.
Mr. Sukro Chakma (37), son of Mr. Kishor Chakma, address as above. His house was demolished by the soldiers. They also roobbed many fowls from him.
Another group of soldiers from the same camp at Ghagra led by Attiqur Rahman carried out a military operation against the indigenous Chakma Buddhists of Lower Kuduk Chari and Upper Kuduk Chari. Bangladesh army beat and robbed indigenous people, molested indigenous Buddhist women. The victims are:
Mrs. Kalabi Chakma (32), wife of Mr. Raj Moni Chakma of Lower Kuduk Chari, Rangamti. The army personnel attempted to rape her but when they failed they severely beat her. Bangladesh army robbed her valuable clothes.
Mrs. Polly Chakma (36), wife of Mr. Monoranjan Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army attempted to rape her, but when they failed they severely beat her.
Mrs. Sona Devi Chakma (37), wife of Mr. Brisha Kumar Chakma of Lower Kuduk Chari, Rangamati. Bangladesh army inhumanly beat her.
Mrs. Renu Chakma (45), wife of Mr. Poreiya Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army inhumanly beat her.
Mrs. Laxmi Devi Chakma (26), wife of Mr. Morottua Chakma, address as above. The soldiers tried to rape her but when they failed they severely beat her.
Mr. Poreiya Chakma (55), son of late Chandra Muni Chakma, address as above. He wss severely beaten by the army personnel.

Mrs. Raj Laxmi Chakma (25), wife of Mr. Surya Kumar Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army tried to rape her but when they failed she was severely beaten by them.

Mr. Surya Kumar Chakma (55), address as above. He was arrested, beaten and taken to the army camp at Ghagra where he was detained. His house was set on fire and the surrounding fruit gardens were destroyed. The soldiers robbed 8 quintals of paddy, 2 blankets and valuable clothes from his house.

Mr. Kandor Singh Chakma (23), son of Mr. Rattua Ram Chakma, address as above. The victim was arrested and beaten when he was being taken to the army camp at Ghagra.
Mr. Joy Kumar Chakma (22), address as above. He was arrested, beaten end taken to the army camp at Ghagra where he was detained. The soldiers robbed 8 quintals of paddy and 30 KG of rice from his house.
Mr. Shishi Kumar Chakma (29), son of Mr. Kalyan Mohan Chakma, address as above. He was arrested, beaten and taken to the army camp at Ghagra. The soldiers robbed his house hold utensils. His house was demolished by the soldiers.
