In August 2007; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers broke into the boundary of Sadhantila Buddhist Temple in Dighinala and began erecting houses inside the temple boundary.
Bangladesh army detain and extort indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Barkal
On 16 Nov. 1966, Bangladesh army personnel from Subolong Army Camp arrested many indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Barkal, Rangamati district and took them to Subolong Army Camp. Bangladesh army released them after extorting 20 bags of paddy from each except one who is still being kept under custody. The victims are:
Mr. Sashanka Mohan Chakma (65), son of late Rajani Kanta Karbari of Midingya Chari, Barkal.
Mr. Barendra Lal Chakma (60), son of late Rajani Kanta Karbari, address as above.
Mr. Jnana Shankar Chakma (45), son of Mr. Sashanka Mohan Chakma, address as above.
Mr. Chironjeev Chakma (23), son of Mr. Devabrata Chakma of Andar Manik, Barkal. He is still being kept under army custody.
