On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers massacred about 30 indigenous Chakma Buddhists at Mallya. One of them was Bablu Chakma the son of Manek Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded on a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the vessel. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.
Bangladesh Rifles terrorize the indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Matiranga and Ramgarh
On 9 December 1986, 80 BDR (Bangladesh Rifles) personnel commanded by a Captain, 2 Subedars (Junior Commissioned Officer) and 2 Naib Subedars from the BDR Wing Head Quarter at Ramgarh carried out a military operation against the indigenous Buddhist villages Pilak Mu Para in Matiranga and Pilak Temorong in Ramgarh, Khagrachari district. During the operation, the BDR personnel resorted to arson, beating and arrest. The victims are:
Mr. Suro Mohan Chakma (32 yrs), son of Mr. Kali Kumar Chakma of Pilak Mu Para, Matiranga. He was arrested, beaten and taken to Ramgarh BDR HQ. His wife and son were also beaten by the BDR personnel. His properties worth Taka 10,000.00 (Ten thousand Taka) were destroyed when the BDR personnel set fire on his house. He was released on 20 December 1986.
Mr. Koruna Mohan Chakma (45 yrs), son of Mr. Kali Kumar Chakma, address as above. He was arrested, beaten and taken to Ramgarh BDR HQ. His house was set on fire by the BDR personnel due to which his properties worth Taka 15,000.00(Fifteen thousand Taka) were destroyed.
Mr. Mongol Dhon Chakma (50 yrs), son of late Chinta Moni Chakma, address as above. He was arrested from his house and was severely beaten by the BDR personnel. He was released on 20 December 1986.
Mr. Navadwip Chakma (55 yrs), son of late Kalidas Chakma of Pilak Temorong, Ramgarh. He was arrested by the BDR personnel. His house was set on fire by the BDR personnel due to which his properties worth Taka 20,000.00(Twenty thousand Taka) were destroyed.
Mr. Roshik Kumar Chakma (28 yrs), son of Mr. Mongol Dhon Chakma of Pilak Temorong, Ramgarh. He wes arrested from his house and was severely beaten by the BDR personnel. He was released on 20 Dec. 1986.
Mr. Dhon Kumar Chakma (20 yrs), son of Mr. Mongol Dhon Chakma, address as above. He wes arrested from his house and was severely beaten by the BDR personnel. He was released on 20 Dec. 1986.
Mr. Rupa Dhon Chakma (17 yrs), son of Mr. Mongol Dhon Chakma, address as above. He wes arrested from his house and was severely beaten by the BDR personnel. He was released on 20 Dec. 1986.
Mr. Komol Dhon Chakma (48 yrs), son of late Krishna Chakma, of Pilak Mu Para, Matiranga. His house was domolished and properties worth Taka 1,000.00 (One Thousand Taka) were robbed by the BDR personnel.
