On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Bangladesh army terrorizes indigenous Buddhist and Hindu people in Matiranga

2 January 1987, Bangladesh army of 32 EBR from the Matiranga Army Camp carried out military operations against the indigenous Buddhist and Hindu inhabitants of Chakra Para, Matiranga Bazar and Matiranga in Khagrachari district.

During the operation Bangladesh army arrested, tortured and took many indigenous Buddhist and Hindu villagers to the Matiranga Army Camp. Bangladesh army personnel shot dead an indigenous Marma Buddhist at Matiranga Bazar.

The victims are:

  1. Mr. Chai Aung Marma (40 yrs), son of Mr. Hla Bre Chai Marma of Gojya Beel, Manikchari, Matiranga. Bangladesh army shot him dead at Matiranga Bazar.
  2. Mr. Praveen Chandra Chakma (25 yrs), son of Mr. Hori Ram Chakma of Chakra Para, Matiranga. Bangladesh army rounded him up from his house and severely beat him. Bangladesh army sent him to Khagrachari where he was detained.
  3. Mr. Sashi Chandra Chakma (25 yrs), son of Mr. Batya Chakma, address as above. Banglades army arrested him from his house and severely beat him. Bangladesh army took him to the army camp at Matiranga and subjected him to inhuman tortures. He was released on 6 January 1987.
  4. Mr. Jogyo Kumar Chakma (25 yrs), son of Mr. Fuleshwar Chakma, address as above.
  5. Mr. Sashi Komol Chakma, son of Mr. Fuleshwar Chakma, address as above.
  6. Mr. Rhee Prue Marma (45 yrs), son of Mr. Moshe Marma of Matiranga Bazar. Bangladesh army arrested him from his house and severely beat. Bangladesh army took him to the army camp and subjected him to inhuman physical tortures.
  7. Mr. Appruza Marma (25 yrs), son of Mr. Moshe Marma, address as above.
  8. Mr. Mha Hlagyo Marma (30 yrs), son of Mr. Ugyo Marma, address as above.
  9. Mr. Apprue Marma (25 yrs), son of Mr. Ugyo Marma, address as above.
  10. Mr. Kyozai Marma (35 yrs), son of Mr. Apprue Zai Marma, address as above.
  11. Mr. Kyo Hrah Karma (45 yrs), son of Mr. Mo Chai Marne, address as above.
  12. Mr. Sain Hla Prue Marma (22 yrs), son of Mr. Kyo Hrah Marma, address as above.
  13. Mr. Rhemra Marma (35 yrs), son of Mr. Mau Maung Marma, address as above.
  14. Mr. Sah Thuai Marma (50 yrs), son of Mr. Mau Maung Marma, address as above.
  15. Mr. Maungyo Marma (30 yrs), son of Mr. Sah Dong Marma, address as above.
  16. Mr. Athuai Marma (22 yrs), son of Mr. Sah Dong Marma of Matiranga Bazar. Bangladesh army arrested him from his house and severely beat him. Bangladesh army took him to the army camp and subjected him to inhuman physical tortures.
  17. Mr. Jongyo Marma (25 yrs), son of Mr. Mau Maung Marma, address as above.
  18. Mr. Yo Maung Marma (22 yrs), son of Mr. Hla Bre Marma, address as above.
  19. Mr. Jungyo Marma (26 yrs), son of Mr. Chai Thuai Marma, address as above.
  20. Mr. Mrhagyo Marma (35 yrs), son of Mr. Saw Krah Marma, address as above.
  21. Mr. Maung Yo Marma (35 yrs), son of Mr. Maung Tu Shwe Marma, address as above.
  22. Mr. Sadhon Bikash Chakma (32 yrs), son of Mr. Lenga Chakma of Chakra Para, Matiranga. Bangladesh army arrested, beat and took him to the army camp. Bangladesh army further tortured him at the army camp. Bangladesh army released him on 6 January 1987.
  23. Mr. Atu Shwe Marma (50 yrs), son of Mr. Tung Rhee Marma of Matiranga. Bangladesh army arrested and beat him at his house and then took him to the army camp where he was tortured inhumanly. Bangladesh army released him on the same day.
  24. Mr. Lorindra Tripura (30 yrs), son of Mr. Raj Chandra Tripura, address as above. Bangladesh army arrested, beat and took him to the army camp where he was further tortured by the army personnel. Bangladesh army released him on 6 January 1987.
  25. Mr. Rupo Tripura (40 yrs), son of Mr. Shanti Ram Tripura, address as above.
  26. Mr. Mrhasa Marma (25 yrs), son of Mr. Sa Hnai Marma, address as above.
