On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people at Baghaichari leaving an indigenous man dead. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous Buddhist man gunned down by the Bangladesh army.

Bangladesh army murders and tortures indigenous Buddhist people in Matiranga

On 5 January 1987, Bangladesh army of 32 EBR from the army camp at Toikatang carried out a military operation against the indigenous Buddhist village Khutung Para in Matiranga, Khagrachari district. During the operation Bangladesh army murdered and terrorized following indigenous people:

  1. Mr. Chandra Karbari Tripura (45 yrs), son of late Gokul Tripura of Khutung Para, Matiranga. Bangladesh army arrested the victim from his house and beat him to death.
  2. Mr. Kong Jyori Marma (40 yrs), son of Mr. Brey Marma, address as above. Bangladesh army opened fire at him and seriously wounded him. Presently he is being treated at Khagrachari Hospital.
  3. Mr. Maung Thuai Marma (22 yrs), son of Mr. Maung Du Marma, address as above. Bangladesh army rounded him up from his house and charged him with bayonet. He was seriously wounded and was taken to Khagrechari Hospital.
  4. Mr. Moshe Marma (30 yrs), son of Mr. Saindyo Marma, address as above. Bangladesh army arrested and beat him. Bangladesh army took him to the army camp and subjected him to inhuman torture. Bangladesh army released him on 9 January 1987.
  5. Mr. Ugyo Zai Marma (35 yrs), son of Mr. Thoila Prue Marma, address as above. Bangladesh army arrested, beat and took him to the army camp. Bangladesh army subjected him to inhuman torture at army camp due to which he suffered an injury on his head. He had to be hospitalised for treatment.
  6. Mr. Koktai Tripura (36 yrs), son of Mr. Roshik Chan Tripura, adoress as above. Bangladesh army arrested, beat and took him to army camp where he was subjected to inhuman torture.
  7. Mr. Rajendra Tripura (31 yrs), son of Mr. Jagat Kumar Tripura.
  8. Mr. Dwigendra Tripura (26 yrs), son of Mr. Jagat Kumar Tripura of Khutung Para, Matiranga. Bangladesh army arrested, beat and took him to the army camp where he was subjected to inhuman tortures. Bangladesh army released him on 7 January 1987.
  9. Mr. Poti Kumar Tripura (40 yrs), son of Mr. Gokul Tripura, address as above.
  10. Mr. Kendara Tripura (30 yrs), son of Mr. Gokul Tripura, address as above.
  11. Mr. Komol Chandra Tripura (25 yrs), address as above.
