On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed at least 30 indigenous Chakma Buddhists at Mallya. One of them was Shantibala Chakma, the wife of Mr. Saral Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded on a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the ferry. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.
Bangladesh army presumably murders an indigenous Buddhist couple in Panchari
From 10 to 17 January l987, Bangladesh army of 19 EBR carried out a week long military operation against the indigenous Buddhist people of Logang in Panchari, Khagrachari district.
During the operation, army personnel from the army camp at Chikon Chari of Pujgang led by a Major arrested an indigenous Buddhist couple from Haza Chara of Mainee Valley. The couple have been uprooted from their ancestral village and were living near the international border with India. Their where abouts are not known. It is speculated that they have been murdered by the Bangladesh army Major of Chikon Chari Camp. The victims are:
Mr. Pritimoy Chakma (24 yrs), son of Mr. Ram Komol Chakma of Choto Haza Chara, Dighinala.
Mrs. Aporani Chakma (19 yrs), wife of Mr. Pritimoy Chakma of Choto Haza Chara, Dighinala.
