On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed. Dr. Shusovon Dewan is an indigenous physician in Rangamati. Muslim settlers mercilessly beat him when they found him in the street.

Bangladesh army terrorizes indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Dighinala

On 16 January 1987, Bangladesh army from the army camp at Reng Kajjya led by Lt. Mohsin carried out a military operation against the indigenous Buddhist village Reng Kajjya of Merung in Dighinala, Khagrachari district. During the operation Bangladesh army tortured and raped many indigenous Buddhist men and women. The victims are:

1. Allyaram Chakma (45 yrs), son of Mr. Petya Chakma of Reng Kajjya, Dighinala. He was severely beaten by the army personnel.
2. Mr. Noloni Mohan Chakma (40 yrs), son of Mr. Birajya Chakma, address as above.
3. Mr. Bhodro Sen Chakma (26 yrs), son of Mr. Hnath Chakma, address as above.
4. Mr. Jayanta Chakma (50 yrs), son of late Biraj Chandra Chakma, address as above.
5. Miss. Toria Puni Chakma (18 yrs), daughter of Mr. Peda Chakma, address as above. She was gang raped in her house by the army personnel.
6. Master Ranga Uda Chakma (12 yrs), son of Mr. Gulchoga Chakma, address as above. The innocent boy was severely beaten by the army personnel.
7. Bhua Rani Chakma (5 yrs), daughter of Mr. Gulchoga Chakma, address as above. The child was inhumanly beaten infront of her pnrents.
8. Mrs. Vidyama Chakma (45 yrs), wife of Mr. Ramani Mohan Chakma, address as above. She was severely beaten by the army personnel.
9. Mr. Shanti Bikash Chakma (25 yrs), son of Mr. Visva Chakma of Korolya Chari, Atarak Chara, Longadu. He was arrested by Lt. Mohsin. His where abouts are not known since his arrest. It is being speculated that he has been murdered by Lt. Mohsin. The victim at the time of arrest had Tk 2560.00 (Two thousand, five hundred and sixty Taka) cash with him which was robbed by the Lieutenant.
10. Mr. Poisa Ram Chakma (27 yrs), sof of Mr. Bhagya Ram Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army attacked him with a large knife due to which he was seriously wounded.
