On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people at Baghaichari leaving an indigenous man dead. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous Buddhist man gunned down by the Bangladesh army.

Bangladesh army beat an indigenous Buddhist to death in Panchari

On 25 January 1987, Bangladesh army of 19 EBR from Panchari Zone led by Major Kader arrested 3 innocent indigenous Buddhists from Mijjibeel village in Panchari, Khagrachari district.

Bangladesh army took the indigenous Chakma Buddhists to army camp at Panchari. Bangladesh army beat them with wooden blocks. Bangladesh army subjected them to inhuman tortures due to which one of the victims died at the army camp in their custody. 2 other victims were released on 26 January 1987. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Amalendu Chakma (35 yrs), son of Mr. Sachindra Lal Chakma of Mijjibeel, Panchari. Major Kader tortured him to death on 26 January 1987.
  2. Mr. Mahindra Narayan Chakma (48 yrs), son of Mr. Vira Bahu Chakma, address as above. He was subjected to inhuman tortures.
  3. Mr. Shantimoy Chakma (26 yrs), address as above.
