On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. Indigenous Buddhist girl Mithu Marma (13) was seriously injured in the attack.
Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Kaukhali
On 16 Feb. 1987, Bangladesh army from the camp at Champatoli of Ghagra and Kaukhali carried out a military operation against the indigenous people of Bottoli Para in Kaukhali, Rangamati district. During the operation Bangladesh army subjected many indigenous inhabitants to inhuman beating. Bangladesh army resorted to robbery of household properties of the innocent victims. The victims are:
Mr. Pain U Marma (52), son of Mr. Rui U Marma of Bottoli Para, Kaukhali. He was rounded up from his house and beaten up by the army personnel. The soldiers robbed his household properties and a fowl from him.
