On 3 August 2004, Bangladesh army backed Bengali Muslim settlers killed 2 members of an indigenous Buddhist family in Dhandachara village of Bhushanchara in Barkal. At night at around 11 pm the Muslim settlers attacked Mr. Barun Kumar Chakma (33) and his family members with swords and spears. Mr. Barun Kumar Chakma died on the spot and his wife Ms. Subarna Chakma (28) and 11 months old son Kampan Chakma were seriously injured. Next day on 4 August Ms. Subarna died from her injuries. Kampan Chakma got serious injuries at his right leg.


Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Kaukhali

On 25 March 1987, Bangladesh army of 40 EBR from the Champatoli Army Camp at Ghagra raided indigenous Buddhist village Baghchari in Kaukhali, Rangamati district. During the raid Bangladesh army robbed, beat and took the innocent indigenous inhabitants to the camps. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Bira Chandra Chakma (55), son of late Pettua Chakma of Baghchari. The soldiers robbed clothes from his house.
  2. Mr. Ashwini Kumar Chakma (32), son of Mr. Biraj Chandra Chakma, address as above. The soldiers robbed clothes, paddy and rice from his house.
  3. Mr. Amalendu Chakma (25), son of Mr. Monaram Chakma, address as above. He was arrested and inhumanly beaten. Later he was taken to the army camp.
  4. Mr. Sundar Kumar Chakma (32), son of late Kina Chandra Chakma, address as above. He was inhumanly beaten and taken to the army camp as above.
