On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. At Jaliapara, the Muslim settlers stopped every vehicle and looked for indigenous people. Senior government official Jyoti Ranjan Chakma was taken off a bus and severely beaten up.
Bangladesh army torture indigenous peope in Kaukhali
On 25 March 1987, a group of 30 Bangladesh army soldiers of 40th EBR from the army camp at Champatoli of Ghagra raided the indigenous village Betchari in Kaukhali, Rangamati district. During the raid, Bangladesh army inhumanly beat and robbed many indigenous inhabitants. The victims are:

Mr. Nobin Kumar Chakma (50), son of Mr. Khula Ram Chakma, address as above. BD army severely beat him and robbed 1 fowl from him.
Mr. Sharat Mohan Chakma (43), son of Mr. Nobo Kumar Chahma, address as above. BD army beat him till he lost consciousness.
