Bangladesh army the proctector of Muslim settlers
On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Bangladesh army terrorize indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Barkal

On 2 April 1987, Bangladesh army of 305th Brigade from Vedvedi Army Camp at Rangamati carried out a military operation against indigenous people of Jogendra Karbari Para in Barkal, Rangamati district.

During the operation, Bangladesh army encircled the village at 03:00 hours when villagers were in deep sleep. Bangladesh army searched indigenous homes, robbed properties, arrested innocent people and took them to the BDR camp at Guichari.

After 2 days in custody, 3 persons were released on condition of reporting at the army camp at Taringyaghat once every fortnight. The rest 4 arrested persons were taken to the army camp at Taringyaghat and being kept without bail. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Jogendra Karbari (55), son of Mr. Chondi Karbari of Jogendra Karbari.
  2. Mr. Chandra Dhon Chakma (31), son of Mr. Jogendra Karbari, address as above.
  3. Mr. Sharat Chandra Chakma (25), son of Mr. Rajendra Chakma, address as above.
  4. Mr. Rasamoy Chakma (26), son of Mr. Surendra Talukdar of Guichari, Barkal.
  5. Mr. Hiron Kumar Talukdar (45), son of Mr. Chitra Kumar Talukdar, address as above.
  6. Mr. Ananta Muni Chakma (27), son of Mr. Mezeiya Chakma, address as above.
  7. Mr. Dayal Chandra Chakma (35), son of Mr. Mezeiya Chakma, address as above.
