Bangladesh army rape and torture indigenous people in Laxmichari
On 23 May 1987, Bangladesh army of 40th EBR who were on patrolling duty at Chengi Valley road (Rangamati-Khagrachari), subjected indigenous people to severe beating and rape at Sonaram Karbari Para of Toi Changma in Laxmichari, Khagrachari district. The victims are:
Mr. Kamini Ranjan Chakma (22), son of Mr. Bedi Chan Chakma of Sonaram Karbari Para, Toi Changma, Laxmichari. He was falsely accused of being a member of the Shanti Bahini and was severely beaten by the army personnel.
Miss Didi Bala Chakma (16), daughter of Mr. Jodunath Chakma, address as above. She was gang raped by the soldiers at gun point till she bled profusely at her home.
Mrs. Niyoti Bala Chakma (21), wife of Mr. Niyoti Ranjan Chakma, address as above. She was subjected to gang rape by the soldiers at her home.
Miss Anatha Chakma (17), daughter of Mr. Bipinya Chakma, address as above. She was in the paddy field where the soldiers subjected her to severe beating with abuse and also molested her.
