Chakma and Tripuri Refugees from Taidong
On August 3 2013, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers wielding sharp knives and machetes began to attack indigenous Buddhist and Hindu people in Taindong of Matiranga, claiming that indigenous miscreants had kidnapped a Muslim settler named Kamal Hossain. At least 50 indigenous people were wounded and 3 were killed. More than 1,500 indigenous men, women and children fled to the India-Bangladesh border. Indigenous Chakma and Tripuri refugees in temporary refugee camps set up by BSF (Border Security Force of India) in Indo-Bangladesh border.

Bangladesh army torture and rob indigenous people in Rangamati

On 11 June 1987, Bangladesh army 42nd EBR from the army camp at Banduk Bhanga led by Capt. Kadir carried out a military operation against the indigenous people of Kabukkya of Balukhali Union in Rangamati district. During the operation, Bangladesh army beat and robbed indigenous people. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Ittukya Chakma (63), son of Mr. Manik Dhon Chakma of Kabukkya, Balukhali Union. He was severely beaten by the army personnel in his house. The soldiers also robbed Taka 77.00 from him.
  2. Mr.Bharat Barsa Chakma (39), son of Mr. Bhubonjoy Chakma of Kabukkya, Balukhali Union. He was severely beaten by the army personnel and taken to the army camp.
  3. Mr. Sukomol Chakma (32), son of Mr. Dhamma Mohan Chakma, address as above. BD army severely tortured him and robbed Taka 40.00 (Forty taka) from him.
  4. Mr. Ekannya Chakma (60), son of Mr. Joy Singh Chakma, address as above. BD army inhumanly tortured him and destroyed all his household properties.
