Chanchala Chakma victim of Bangladesh Police firing
On 30 June 2013 Bangladesh police opened fire on indigenous Buddhist people in south Khabongpujya area of Khagrachari district. An indigenous Buddhist woman identified as Chanchala Chakma (50) was seriously injured by the rubber bullets.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Dighinala

On 18 July 1987, Bangladesh army from the army camp at Merung arrested indigenous people at Merung in Dighinala, Khagrachari district.

Indigenous people went to the army camp to enquire about the fate of their relations who were attacked and abducted by the Muslim settlers on their way to the market at Merung on 16 July, 1987.

The arrested persons were subjected to beating and were kept under army custody. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Jatindra Chakma (50), a Primary School Teacher of Dhonomoni Para, Choto Hazachara Mouza.
  2. Mr. Protibha Ranjan Chakma (28), son of Mr. Bhalukya Chakma of Chongra Chari Boradam.
  3. Mr. Arun Bikash Chakma (29), address as above.
