On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.
Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Khagrachari
On 3 Nov. 1987, Bangladesh army of 31st EBR from the army camp at Betchari led by Lt. Aziz raided indigenous Buddhist village Horinath Para of Golabari Mouza in Khagrachari district. During the raid Bangladesh army tortured and robbed indigenous inhabitants. The victims are:
Mr. Kamini Karbari (65), son of late Tonaram Chakma of Horinath Para, Golabari Mouza, Khagrachari. He was injured by the army personnel due to severe beating.
Master Dhono Chakma (10), son of Mr. Monu Joy Chakma, address as above. He was beaten as above.
Miss Gouri Mala Chakma (13), daughter of Mr. Bindu Bihari Chakma, address as above. She was beaten as above.
Master Dhonokkua Chakma (9), son of Mr. Bindu Bihari Chakma, address as above. He was beaten as above.
Mr. Dinomoni Chakma (72), address as above. He was injured due to merciless beating by the army personnel.
Mr. Dhonendra Lal Chakma (22), son of Mr. Bindu Bihari Chakma, address as above. He was severely beaten by the army personnel.
