On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked 5 indigenous Buddhist villages in Ramgarh and 2 indigenous villages in Manikchari in Chittagong Hill Tracts. In this attack around 200 indigenous houses including 2 Buddhist temples were torched. At least 20 indigenous people were injured and at least half dozen indigenous people were missing. An indigenous woman in front of her burnt house.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Zurochari

On 24 Nov. 1987, Bangladesh army of 12th East Bengal Regiment from the army camp at Banjogi Chara led by Lt. Col. Akram Hossain carried out a military operation against the indigenous people of Bamey Chuma Chumi of Banjogi Chara in Zurochari, Rangamati district.

Bangladesh army created reign of terror. Bangladesh army tortured and killed many indigenous people. The victims are:

1. Mr. Dhanya Chakma (40), son of Mr. Bhima Chakma of Bamey Chuma Chumi, Zurochari. Injured due to severe beating. His house was burnt to ashes and properties were robbed by the army personnel.
2. Mr. Fuleshwar Chakma (30), son of Mr. Dhunadhar Chakma, address as above. As above.
3. Mr. Braja Mohan Chakma (48), son of Mr. Sisir Kumar Chakma, address as above. As above.
4. Mr. Barun Kanti Chakma (27), son of Mr. Braja Mohan Chakma, address as above. As above.

20. Mr. Milanya Chakma (40), son of Mr. Kamaleshwar Chakma of Bamey Chuma Chumi, Zurochari. The victim was severely beaten and seriously injured by the army personnel. He is being kept under army custody.
21. Mr. Kali Kumar Chakma (55), address as above. He was arrested, severely beaten and seriously injured. He is being kept under army custody.
22. Mr. Chikka Chakma (22), son of Mr. Sanga Sur Chakma of Daney Chuma Chumi, Zurochari. He was arrested, hung upside down, poured water through the nostrils and inhumanly beaten. He is being kept under army custody,
23. Master Jnana Chakma (14), son of Mr. Dhalya Chakma of Bamey Chuma Chumi, Zurochari. Tortured as above. He is being kept under army custody.
24. Mr. Inanda Mohan Chakma (30), son of Mr. Bishwa Muni Chakma, address as above. Tortured as above. He is being kept under army custody.
25. Mr. Rahini Chandra Chakma (35), address as above. Tortured inhumanly by the army personnel.
