On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Baghaichari. The settlers destroyed many indigenous houses and Buddhist temples. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. Bangladesh police fight indigenous people whose land was grabbed by Muslim settlers.

Bengali settlers attack indigenous people in Ichamati

On 24 Dec. 1987, Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people of Sasala Beel of Ichamati area. Bangladesh army actively supported and assisted the Muslim settlers in their attack.

Muslim settlers robbed the properties of the indigenous inhabitants. The victims are:

1. Mr. Feni Dhan Chakma (55), son of Mr. Sukra Mani Chakma of Sasala Beel of Ichamati. He was injured by the attackers. The Muslim settlers robbed cash Tk. 1500 (One thousand five hundred Taka) and 1 kilogram of silver from him.
2. Mr. Sundar Kumar Chakma (40), son of Mr. Kalya Karbari, address as above. His household properties including clothes were robbed by the attackers.
3. Mr. Sundarban Chakma (45), son of Mr. Banya Ram Chakma, address as above. All his household properties and cash Tk. 200 (Two hundred Taka) were robbed. His house was destroyed by the attackers.
4. Mr. Krishna Kumar Chakma (30), son of Mr. Kathin Chandra Chakma, address as above. His shirts and cash Tk. 200 (Two hundred Taka) were robbed and his house was destroyed by the attackers.
5. Mr. Brisha Kumar Chakma (58), son of Mr. Paban Chandra Chakma, address as above. His household utensils were broken into pieces and the house was destroyed.
6. Mr. Kusha Mani Chakma (18), son of Mr. Brisha Kumar Chakma, address as above. He was severely beaten by the attackers.
7. Mr. Laxmi Kumar Chakma (40), son of Mr. Gakul Chandra Chakma, address as above. He was injured due to severe beating by the attackers. His husking machine as well as the machine house was destroyed.
8. Mr. Daya Mani Chakma (25), son of Mr. Ajit Nanda Chakma, address as above. He was severely beaten up.
9. Mr. Bira Kanta Chakma (26), son of Mr. Zura Kanta Chakma, address as above. One sari, household utensils and cash Tk. 1500 (One thousand and five hundred Taka) were robbed from him. His house was destroyed.
10. Mr. Guna Dhar Chakma (30), son of Mr. Phula Ratan Chakma, address as above. He was injured due to firing.
11. Mr. Sasi Dhan Chakma (20), son of Mr. Kalyaram Chakma, address as above. His clothes were robbed.
