On 14 December 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Baghaichari and Dighinala following the death of a settler named Mohamed Sattar. An indigenous woman named Chikon Mila Chakma was killed in Dighinala and at least 10 indigenous people were injured. Mr. Shanti Priyo Chakma was one of the indigenous victims.

Bangladesh army torture 5 indigenous people in Longadu

On 23 April 1988, Bangladesh army of 14 EBR from Longadu Zone led by Lt. Col. Abdul Khaleque rounded up 5 indigenous persons from Mainee Mukh Bazar in Longadu, Rangamati district. Bangladesh army serverly beat 5 indigenous detainees on a false charge of helping the Shanti Bahini. The victims are:

1. Master Pratipurna Chakma (16), son of Mr. Kamaleshwar Chakma of Boradam, Longadu.
2. Mr. Tungala Chakma (18), son of Mr. Sukra Kumar Chakma, address as above.
3. Master Jyotsna Bikash Chakma (17), son of Mr. Nirupam Chakma, address as above.
4. Master Sarabindu Chakma (17), son of Mr. Bani Mohan Chakma of Sonai Haladhar Karbari Para, Longadu.
5. Mr. Bindukya Chakma (35), son of Mr. Hanumanya Chakma, address as above.
