On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people at Baghaichari leaving an indigenous man dead. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous Buddhist man gunned down by the Bangladesh army.
Bengali settlers murder an indigenous person in Longadu
On 10 August 1988, Muslim settlers attacked 2 indigenous persons when they were returning home in a boat from Kattali Bazar in Longadu, Rangamati district. In the attack, 1 died on the spot and the other was seriously wounded. Muslim settlers robbed all their belongings.
The matter was reported to the Police camp at Kattali Bazar, Longadu. But no action was taken against the culprits. The victims are:
Mr. Subha Shanti Chakma (45), son of Mr. Basudev Chakma of Pagali Chara, Longadu. He was killed by the Muslim settlers.
Mr. Satish Chandra Chakma (25), son of Mr. Debendra Chakma, address as above. He was seriously wounded.
