Indigenous victims of Naniachar attack

When whole country was celebrating the victory day of the country on 16 Dec 2014, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous people in Bagachari area of Naniarchar to evict them from their traditional land. 50 indigenous houses, 7 shops and 1 Buddhist temple were destroyed.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Manikchari

On 24 Sept. 1988, Bangladesh army of 32 EBR from Dhumani Ghat Sub Zone led by Lt. Manzur and Bangladesh army from Sindhuk Chari Sub Zone led by Lt. Iqbal arrested an indigenous person in Manikchari, Khagrachari district. Bangladesh army subjected him to inhuman torture during detention. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Suniti Chakma (44) of Dhebal Chari Chowdhury Para, Manikchari.

On 25 Sept. 1988, Bangladesh police requested Mr. Ashok Kumar Chakma (40), Chairman of Barna Chari Union in Laxmichari to report at Laxmichari Police Station in Laxmichari, Khagrachari district.

Accordingly Mr. Chakma reported at Laxmichari Police Station. Bangladesh police detained him for 3 days and then sent him to Bangladesh army camp at Manikchari on 28 Sept. 1988.

Lt. Col. Faiz Ahmed, Commanding Officer of 2 EBR tortured him at Bangladesh army camp in Manikchari.
